We bought a brand new Frieghtliner Columbia. It only had around 50,000 miles maybe less than that....When I was driving up Flagstaff going east all the bells buzzers and whistles were going off everywhere. Lights all over the dash. It just happened it was around our anniversary in 2005. We were shut down on top of the Flagpole and called a tow truck to tow us down to the best Stuart Stevens to work on our engine. It was a recall but they don't call it a recall until it breaks down. It was called a 7 campaign!!??? Anyway it was all injectors.
So we rented a motel and a car set out to see as much as we could see....We didn't know it would take a week to fix our truck. But we made the best of it. The first thing we did was go to the fire and ice cave. Unbelievable! Hot as heck in the dessert and when you go to the ice cave it is a cool 32 degrees year round. There was benches to sit for a while and the cool 32 breeze coming up like the dessert was pulling the cool air upward. I didn't want to leave my perfect spot. The day was clear and beautiful.
The second day we went to Albuquerque Old Town and walked around for a while. We met a nun from Texas and I wonder if she didn't have a mental problem. She talked about strange things and really I was scared. bobby made me erase all the pictures we took of her. She was just visiting the mission like we were.........So we left Albuquerque and headed north for Sante Fe. It was Saturday and all the Indians were our selling their wares, jewelry, ceramic and blankets. We went to an Indian Museum and found us a great place in Old Town Sante Fe to eat. I had the best time.
The last thing we did on Sunday was heading up to Sandia Peak. We rode a tram to the top and it was breath taking. It is the longest tram in the U.S. It went up to 13,500ft. We rode the ski lift back down the other side to the ski lodge. There were so many pretty birch trees with milk white bark. As you can see in one of the pictures below there isn't much holding you on the cable of the ski lift. We enjoyed the cooler higher climate temperatures because down below in Albuquerque it was ungodly hot like 110 degrees. When it was time for the tram to descend back down it fell off the platform (as in a nose dive) I was pushing against Bobby and he said where are you going pushing on me....It was really scary to me. They don't have mountains like that where I'm from!!!
