King of All Lighthouses!
This lighthouse is the symbol for all lighthouses. They use the picture of Cape Hatteras for all lighthouses. This is my dream to come to Cape Hatteras. It did not disappoint me! Cape Hatteras is well maintained and the one of the largest if not the largest lighthouse in the world!
There was huge fires in North Carolina and the winds were blowing in our direction so all the pictures looks smokey. I climbed 192 steps to the top.....not before taking breaks every 5 steps!!!LOL! No airconditioning in the hot summer so you have to take it easy. The climb was well worth it. If you could go only to one lighthouse, this one is it. It is the most impressive.
We spent most of the day here and I was so sad to leave after always wanting to get here! One day I'll be back!
